Training Programs
We work with training and employer partners to develop targeted skills-based training programs.
MassSTEP Food Service & Hospitality Preparation Class
This Program covers:
This class is designed to prepare students with basic skills, relevant occupational skills, and essential workplace skills to enter the workforce in the food service and hospitality industries. The curriculum combines language development and workforce preparation training to provide ESOL students with a current SPL of 4 or higher the skills needed to obtain an entry-level position with one of our employer partners. The skills taught will also help prepare students to move into higher-wage jobs at a faster pace.
This training program will be taught over a 10-week period with 20 instructional hours per week. The training is intended to be accelerated to get students workplace ready and into jobs as quickly as possible. Technical skills-based training preparing students for the tasks involved in various food service jobs will be coupled with digital literacy and integrated ESOL and Civics education that supports educational gains. By engaging in work- related classroom readings, problem-solving activities, and role-playing opportunities, students will be prepared for the real-world situations they will encounter in the workplace.
Students who undertake this training will be provided with the instruction required to obtain OSHA-10, ServSafe, and Allergen Certifications.
This program is provided by Wutabon in partnership with Randolph Community Partnerships, Inc, and is funded by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
